Crying, Screaming Babies In Restaurants & Public Places: Who Needs Them?

THE DOCTOR IS IN _______________

LAS VEGAS- Hello America, and how is the world treating you?

In reference to an inquiry by Patricia: She states that she is fed up with crying, screaming children in some of the public places she frequents and wants my opinion on this issue.

Patricia, there is a recent movement to have a separate section on airplanes to accommodate parents with infants or small children. Passengers have been complaining for years now about babies and small children crying, screaming and being disruptive while on the aircraft. Some airlines are seriously considering separating the crying babies and their parents from the rest of the passengers. I tend to agree with the flying public who say they want to have some type of relief and separation from a crying, disorderly child or children.

Regarding this same issue and being a captive audience let's talk "restaurants." A customer who has sat down with his/her family and friends and ordered their food is stuck. I've also heard many complaints from people who go to restaurants and feel that cannot enjoy a good meal because of parents having a crying or screaming baby in the restaurant and refuse to take the the child to the restroom or outside until they stop crying or being disruptive. These parents continue to sit there and eat because they don't want to leave their food or have their food get cold. I say that's the price of raising a child. Get up from the table with the child even if your food gets cold. That child is the parents problem.

I would think it would be common courtesy for the parent to take the crying, screaming child or children away from the restaurant area so as not to disturb the other dining patrons but it appears that somewhere along the line some parents have lost the ability to be courteous.

However, some good news for many of you who are upset over crying and screaming babies and children n restaurants. There have been a few restaurants in the Midwest and back east that have posted signs (at the request of their dining customers) that people with infants are not welcome in the restaurant and some restaurants have signs saying if the baby or child is crying, screaming, upset, unruly and annoying to other customers the restaurant reserves the right to ask the parents to leave the restaurant. There was one restaurant I read about that had a sign reading: No service to parents with infants or small children and it had an age bracket indicated on the sign.

Personally, I dislike to be in a restaurant or anywhere elsewhere that adults socialize and have to hear screaming and crying children. I have gotten up and left many a restaurant because of them. I have also asked some parents to take their child to the restroom or outside until they quiet down. I have also had occasion to ask the manager of the restaurant to speak with the parents of the offending children but I have have found that many restaurant are afraid to approach the parents and advise them to have their children quiet down or leave.

At one major casino restaurant here in Las Vegas, I even had the manager of the restaurant call security and have security talk to the parents. That's sad when it has to come down to security officers speaking to the parents and asking them to leave the restaurant. One of the parents should have been intelligent enough to take their disruptive screaming, crying child out of the restaurant on the first indication that this child was not going to quiet down.

Patricia, I have even observed some parents just sit in their booth or at their table and laugh about the fact that their child is screaming or crying. They think it is funny. What does that say about the parents? They seem to be oblivious to the needs and respect of others in the restaurant. I have also seen this same scenario play out here in Las Vegas, in the casinos. Why any parent in their right mind would want to drag crying and screaming babies into a gambling establishment (both on the casino floor and in the restaurants) and disrupt other adults social life is beyond me.

I would think that if the parents know their child is prone to crying, screaming, acting out, etc., they would make family time around their own table at home and have their meals there until such time the child is old enough to know how to act in a public restaurant, on an airplane, or in any public arena. But if the parents are really intend about eating out they should also consider a babysitter or relative to take care of the infant or child for the few hours they want to spend in restaurants or public places. It seems like a no-brainer. The parents would have private time for themselves to enjoy a nice quiet and peaceful meal. Go figure! Patricia, somewhere in the past few generations family values and courtesy have fell by the wayside. - And, that's my opinion. Make your own judgment and decisions. You decide.

Obama Continues to Lie To the People

THE DOCTOR IS IN _______________

LAS VEGAS- Hello America, and how is the world treating you?

The words coming out of president Obama's mouth continue to contradict his previous statements. It appears as though the lies continue to keep on coming.

Here' s just a few more lies over the past few days.

1. Obama said that the U.S. would halt air strikes over Libya. They didn't stop. Instead , he said he would continue the air strikes for another 48 hours and possibly more.

2. During his campaign Obama said and promised he would close Guantanamo Bay if elected. However, just a few days ago he said he would continue to keep the facility open.

3. Obama said that he would try Muslim terrorists in the civilian courts here in in the United States. He did a 180 degree and now states that the terrorists will be tried in a military court.

In an earlier blog I mentioned that Obama had the tendency to lie and that fact has now been brought to the forefront by even more of the lies being highlighted in the media each and every day.

We taxpayers cannot depend on much of anything that this man says from day to day. Apparently he is swayed by his people around him from minute to minute and day to day and does not have the capacity to think for himself. He is clearly a disappointment to me because I voted for him. -And, that's my opinion. Make your own judgment and decisions. You decide.

Wal-Mart Should Close All Stores In the U.S. If they Lose This Case

THE DOCTOR IS IN _______________

LAS
VEGAS- Hello America, and how is the world treating you?

The Supreme Court is supposed to rule on a legal case involving Wal-Mart stores. It involves alleged discrimination against women working at Wal-Mart. The women suing want the action brought as a class action suit so the claims can cover millions of women who worked at Wal-Mart over the years.

I would suggest that bringing such a class action suit against the retailing giant is inappropriate and unwarranted. I would like to see the U.S. Supreme Court side with Wal-Mart's argument. If the court found for the women bringing the lawsuit it would be a devastating blow to the entire corporate structure here in America. It is this writer's wish that the the Supreme Court justices see through the lame arguments by the attorney's for these greedy women.

Greedy women? Yes. Let me give you readers an example of greed. - -I will cite one female employee that is in the lawsuit. First, she has been a Wal-Mart employee for 25 years. She went into work day in and day out for over two decades taking Wal-Mart's paycheck and living comfortably all those many years. Comfortable? You bet. This woman's salary was a whopping $60,000 a year. However, now that she feels it's time for het to quit working she sees a big lottery bonanza and wants still more from her old employer Wal-Mart.

Folks, she's not the only woman that worked for Wal-Mat for a number of years that has this same idea. Since Wal-Mart is the world's largest retailer these women have dollar ($$) signs in their eyes.

All these women are claiming discrimination. Many say they were passed over for promotion. Maybe, just maybe there were a few women that may have been passed over for promotion. I say, if that in fact is the case then these particular individuals should file an individual suit against Wal-Mart and have their attorney(s) argue their case in a court of law before a jury. But to roll all the women up that ever worked for Wal-Mar t into one big package and say everyone of these women deserve a lottery payday is foolish and ridiculous.

People, the only ones that will make any real money from this frivolous lawsuit is the attorneys. They love "class action" lawsuits because the attorneys fees can run into the millions and even billions of dollars when they sue a large corporation or entity.

I'm sure many of you have had experience with "class action" lawsuits. Let me give you another example. A few years ago, I received a card in the mail stating I was a person in a class action lawsuit against LEVI Corporation. The card indicated that since at sometime in the past I bought a pair of Levi jeans I am eligible to be included in the lawsuit. A number of attorneys brought the lawsuit claiming numerous violation by the company. About a year later I received a coupon in the mail from Levi stating that since I was a person in the lawsuit my award is: "a coupon for $2.00) that I could use toward my next purchase of a pair of Levi jeans.Over the years at other times I received "class action" cards from electronic companies, appliance companies, clothing companies, airlines, etc., and each time the consumer (you and me) that were in these so-called "class-action" lawsuits only receive a coupon for anywhere from $0.25 to $2.00 toward the purchase of a new item in the future. However, ALERT - - - the attorneys that brought the "class-action" lawsuits against these large companies billed for millions and billions of dollars in attorneys fees. Is that fair? No way.

Congress should have stepped in years ago and put a stop to these lousy "class-action" lawsuits where the only objective is to have attorneys reach into the deep pockets of large companies and corporations only too be paid millions in legal fees. The attorneys live large but the people , other than a very few individuals they are supposed to be representing in the lawsuit only receive coupons for a few dollars toward their next purchase of an item.

So, again-the lawyers see billions of dollars they can bill for by suing Wal-Mart. My view on this Wal-Mart caper is that many of these women who now say they were wronged had worked for Wal-Mart for years enjoying the salaries and benefits and discounts that Wal-Mart offered them.

Many of these women continued their years of employment at the company even though they say they were discriminated against because they were passed over for promotion. If I were being being passed over for promotion I would ask why I didn't receive that promotion and if I felt it was discrimination I would hire an attorney and file suit and argue (my case) before the proper court or agency. Or, I have the choice to quit if I thought I didn't like the way the company was treating me. I would find employment elsewhere.

Remember, all of these women, and there all a lot of women who work in Wal-Mart stores around the world clearly know what the job entails when they hire on and accept the position. One clear. glaring fact that everyone knows it that Wal-Mart is a non-union work place. Right away, that woman applicant knows that if she is looking for union benefits and wages Wal-Mart is the wrong employer to look for a job.

Through my research and interviews I have found that most of the millions of women that work Wal-Mart take the job for extra monies and/or as a part-time position. Wal-Mart is one of those employers that even hire the elderly employee because that employee only wants the job for extra money and something to do. Then there are the young employees, right out
of school who are just starting out and want to gain experience in the work force.

For whatever reason these young and old women (and) men apply and accept a job with Wal-Mart they are told up front the terms of their employment when they hire on. At the time of application for the job they can make their own determination as to whether they want to accept and/or refuse the employment terms. And, these same individuals have the right to resign or quit the job at Wal-Mart at their leisure. I say, each and every employee working at any job in the country( not just Wal-Mart) can knowingly and willingly accept or reject a job offer.

It amazes me that when someone works for a company for two or three decades making a great salary ($60,000) a year and then decides to sue the company screaming "I was passed over" for a promotion is a little much. Something fishy in Denmark, folks. I submit that if the job at Wal-Mart was so bad, why didn't she leave years ago or file complaints with the proper labor agencies? It appears women like this are only seeking a big payday.

Side note: Lawsuits like this do not only happen against Wal-Mart. One can read the newspaper and see an article of a person working years on the job and then decides to sue because they want to report company wrongdoing. Mind you, they continued to collect a paycheck and closed their eyes to alleged wrongdoing for years but now when there is no more paycheck from the company, they sue. People like this tend to go along as long as they have a job and are getting paid a salary but as soon as the money train stops they attempt to play the innocent victim and deny knowledge of wrongdoing.

It's time to stop these deep pocket lawsuits by way of "class actions". If a person thinks they have been wronged by a company or corporation, I say they should file an individual lawsuit and have their day in court addressing the alleged wrong against themselves.

If I were Wal-Mart CEO and lost this case I would close up shop. I would immediately close each and every Wal-Mart store in the USA and I would relocate headquarters overseas and hire people from those other countries that appreciate a job. Then, let's see how all of these women feel when there is no Wal-Mart job too go to. No living to make. No paycheck. Millions of people out of work overnight. Let's see how that would affect our economy. Wal-Mart has been doing the United States a favor by hiring millions of people and these women should thank God they have or had a job.- And, that's my opinion. Make your own judgment and decisions. You decide.

Doctors & Hospitals Reusing "Single-Use Medical Devices-That's Wrong!

THE DOCTOR IS IN
_______________

LAS VEGAS- Hello America, and how is the world treating you.

What the devil are doctors around the country doing putting patients in harms way?

Here is what I'm talking about. A few days ago a Las Vegas doctor, Dr. Michael Kaplan was caught reusing single-use medical devices on patients while he was checking men for prostate problems. The Health Department notified at least 101 of doctor Kaplan's' patients to be tested for such things as Hepatitis C, and HIV. The medical device which he chose to used multiple times on different patients clearly states that it to be used only" one time". The device is meant for " single-use" on one patient and then disposed of. However, it is reported that this doctor, who in the past, has had at least 9 malpractice suits brought against him where one or more resulted in a patients death chose to use this single-use medical device on patients until, ' "his words" " it became to bloody"---

Dr. Kaplan estimates that he used the single-use device at least five times each on five different patients before he would dispose of it. Then he would take another new single-use device and use it on five or so more patients and he would not notify the patient that he was reusing a device that had previously been used on someone else. Wrong? You bet.

But that's not the end of it. It wasn't too long ago here in Las Vegas that Dr. Dipak Desai reused medical devices and equipment that were to be used on a single-use basis. As a result, somewhere between 60,000- 70,000 patients in Nevada were sent letters to be tested for HIV, AIDS, or Hepatitis C. It was the largest AIDS, Hepatitis scandal scare in United States history. Some of the patients did contract HIV or Hepatitis C.

Even with Dr. Desai's bad medical care Dr. Kaplan chose to put patients at risk of contracting fatal diseases by doing basically the same thing. But wait, there's more, - - now, Dr. Lawrence Newman came forward on his own and told the Nevada Medical Board that he too, was reusing single-use medical devices on different patients. Wow! It doesn't stop there folks, an attorney reported in the local newspaper this standard of care may be happening nationwide by thousands of doctors. Can you believe it?

These three bad doctors here in Las Vegas and all doctors in the United States are college graduates and supposed to be able to read and write. Most doctors claim to be very intelligent so what don't they understand when it is clearly written in the instructions on the medical device "SINGLE-USE" only. Are they smarter than a fifth grader? Apparently not, if they cannot read a very clear label and adhere to the instructions that the medical device is to be used only ONE time and then disposed of.

But two of these doctors are now claiming they were told by the medical device salesman that they were allowed to use the device on more than one patient. It appears the blame game is occurring here. The company that manufacturers the device denied that they instruct any of their salesman to tell doctors that a single-use device can be used over and over again.

I clearly would not want any other person's body tissue, fluids and blood to be transferred into my body, especially if that person were infected with AIDS, HIV, or Hepatitis C.

How can these supposedly professionals show such total disregard for patients just because they want to save a few pennies or in this case only ($10.00), which is the cost of the medical device in question?

Other news that was disclosed after this fiasco said that doctor and hospitals across the country also use "reprocessed single-use medical devices if they are processed by an FDA accredited facility. However, if the device has been reprocessed it can only be used one time following the reprocessing. Further, some doctors say that even though the medical device has been reprocessed there may still be another persons body tissue and fluids attached to that specific medical device. Can you believe it? Just so the doctor or hospital want to improve the bottom line they have no qualms about "First, do no harm." Their bottom line is more important to them than the safety of the patient.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that if any WARNING LABEL reads: "single-use only" that is what it is intended for. That device should not be reused EVEN if it has been reprocessed. These hospitals and doctors make enough monies so as to afford to pay pennies for the small items and even $10.00 for an item. There should be no excuse whatsoever for any doctor or hospital to reuse or reprocess a single-use medical device. To me, that would border on malpractice.

When the doctors and hospitals do perform this outrageous act upon a patient it looks as though the doctor and/or hospital is rolling the dice just hoping the odds are in their favor and they are not infecting or doing harm to that patient. On the other hand if they would follow proper protocol and follow the instructions on the medical device they would not have to worry about harming "any" patient. Why? One single-use medical device for "one" patient. It's a no-brainer folks.

At this point I have to applaud the Veterans Administration hospitals and health care workers. This medical group that serves our veterans has a strict policy prohibiting the reuse of "single-use" medical devices and the Veterans Administration does not use any "reprocessed single-use" medical devices in their hospitals. Hooray!

If the Veterans Administration hospitals can adhere to the rules and protocol of when a single-use medical device can be used, why doesn't each and every other hospital and doctor in the nation do the same thing.

Folks, I suspect the answer to the question is"greed." Greed by the doctors and hospitals that want to save money. But what price is a person's life, health? Who wants to see their father, mother, spouse or even their children possible die just because those heath care people decided to roll the dice as a cost cutting move by the doctor or hospital? Is a person 's life not worth a $10.00 investment -And, that's my opinion. Make your own judgment and decisions. You decide.

Obama's Libyan Attack: He's still Lying to Us Americans

THE DOCTOR IS IN _______________

LAS VEGAS- Hello America, and how is the world treating you?

Politician's talk out of both sides of their mouth. President Obama is a great example of that. He waited for days before he decided to go on television and rationalize a military strike on a another sovereign nation. True, no too many leaders around the world like Gadhafi but that is no excuse to invade another country. This administration and Secretary of State Clinton uses the lame excuse that the United States bombed Libya because "they were protecting" the Libyan people. What a bunch of B.S.

Is the United States going to invade and bomb other nations around the world to protect that countries people from their leader. When a countries people rise up and start a revolution it is their decision and it is their decision on how to fight and overthrow the leaders they want to oust. It is not the United States place to dictate on who they will side with and when they will offer military weapons and personnel so as to perpetuate a conflict within another countries borders.

This president and his (lets make war) White House gamers and his arm chair generals initiated an attack on another country yet they had no real, definitive plan going in (except to say, We'll bomb the crap out of Libya) and play it by ear after that. After the bombing began Obama and his war games circle of advisor's had no idea as to who they would support, nor did they have any knowledge of which groups, if any, they could partner up with in Libya. In fact, the U.S. is bumbling around in this Libyan war so bad they have no inkling as too any rebel link up to Islamic militants.

In any event, the lame excuses Obama, Hillary Clinton and the administration offer just amplify the point that this administration wants to agitate and stir up military conflicts around the world so all attention can be taken away from the domestic problems we Americans are facing here at home.

In regards to the Libyan attack Obama went before the American people and tried to explain why he authorized the military action. He said the action would be only temporary and the United States would withdraw from the conflict and leave the attacks to NATO . Further, he said that he would not put any American boots on Libyan soil. LIE! LIE! LIE! First, American weapons are being used and guided by American personnel and are still blasting Lybia. Second, at the moment of this writing Obama has a number of CIA (Americans) with their boots on the ground continuing to stir up the conflict in Libya. So much for Obama's pledge that no U.S. ground troops would be deployed to Libya. Quagmire? Possibly.

Officials said that yesterday, Obama issued a "secret finding" authorizing the CIA (American personnel) to carry out a cloaked and clandestine effort to provide arms and other support to the various Libyan opposition groups. In fact, it was these CIA boots on the ground in Libya that helped rescue the two crew members of an F-15E Strike Eagle that crashed March 21, 2011, in Liya.

Mark my words, Obama will continue to misinform the people of the United States as it pertains to this Libyan battle, one that in my opinion, should never have occurred at all. Further, I predict that Obama and his soldiers, that he treats like toys, which he likes to move around the world on his whim as if he is moving the soldiers on a game board will protract the Libyan battle for months if not years costing us taxpayers billions of dollars over and above what he has already spent on this fiasco.

What price freedom? Freedom is fighting your own battles for one's freedom. But apparently Obama and his people feel the need to run around the world and interject their "lets play soldier" concept telling these small nations that: "I am the U.S. and I have the military might to do whatever I want. After I get what I want I'll take my ball and go home."

Finally, I suspect that president Obama and his playmates who love playing "war games" by disassociation and sanitization (computers, video, drones) and using this very sterile approach to killing people (from thousands of miles away) so they themselves don't have to witness or see the carnage doesn't have the slightest idea as to how much devastation and havoc his (lets play war) really has on the people of these countries he chooses to attack.

The irony of these wars are: Obama glibly says that we the United States taxpayer will have to rebuild these country(s) that his military toys tore to shambles and left in rubble. Cite: It's happened in Iraq, Afghanistan and it will happen in Libya. That old Pottery Barn adage: You break it, you bought it seems to be Obama's credo.

But anyway you cut it, dice it, or slice it. A LIE is a LIE and president Obama clearly is lying to all of us Americans. It is any wonder that his approval rating are as low as they are? - And, that's my opinion. Make your own judgment and decisions. You decide.
